Getting young people into work is once again a focus of a housing association as it embarks on its second year of a successful apprenticeship scheme.
A business breakfast has been held in Diss by Saffron Housing Trust, based in Long Stratton, to promote to businesses the benefits of taking on an apprentice, and the support Saffron can provide along the way.
The meeting, last Wednesday, heard from two Saffron apprentices - Hannah Beasley who is placed at Eye financial planners Andrew Dickson Ltd, and Luke Rodwell who is placed with Diss-based Danny Ward builders.
Anthony Hewkin, of Andrew Dickson Ltd, said: “We gave Saffron a list of what we needed in an apprentice and impressively they managed to find Hannah who has fitted in well with our small team.
“Saffron takes care of the admin and pays for their holidays and training days so we only pay for the time Hannah is with us. It has worked for us and we would happily recommend this scheme to others.”
Mr Rodwell said his placement has offered him training and a boost for his future job plans.
Saffron has eight Diss-based apprentices.
