Mid Suffolk and Barbergh District Councils have installed solar panels on over 2,000 council homes in the hope of saving £5million in energy costs in the next 20 years.

Homes in Park View, Botesdale, will be the first to benefit from the panel-generated electricity, and the councils will also receive funds as part of the government’s Feed-in Tariff.

They also estimate a reduction of 80,000 tonnes of carbon emissions as a result of installing these panels.
