A Stonham Aspal pub which has been closed for more than a year has been sold, subject to contract.
The Ten Bells, located in The Street and owned by pub company Punch Taverns, had been the subject of a community bid to purchase the pub and turn it into a community hub.
But according to the website of Chartered Surveyors Fleurets, which had the property on the market for £210,000, it has been sold, subject to contract.
Despite two extensions to the deadline of a share issue to buy the pub, they raised just under £67,000 towards their fundraising total. At a meeting, it was voted to return members’ money and close the company - to the disappointment of those involved.
A spokesperson for Punch Taverns told the Diss Express: “We can confirm that we are in the legal process with a potential purchaser. Contracts are due to be exchanged this week.”
The Ten Bells was deemed an asset of community value until March 6, which had protected the pub from outside bids.
