A long-running national BBC Radio 4 programme is set to be broadcast live from an Attleborough church later this month.

Any Questions?, a topical discussion show featuring personalities from media and politics, broadcast on Friday evenings and repeated on Saturday afternoons, will be hosted at St Mary’s Church, in Church Street, on July 31 at 8pm.

Rector Matthew Jackson said around 60 tickets remained for the event, and said this was the first time the church had received national media exposure.

“I’m very excited,” he said. “It is not very often we get anything on a national scale in Attleborough and in the church, so it will be brilliant.

“There was an application form that I filled in about four years ago (to be a venue) and had forgotten about it.

“Hopefully there will be a big news story and there will be a bit of excitement.”

The full panel of guests is yet to be confirmed, although the Bishop of Norwich, Revd Graham James is due to appear.

Members of the panel do not get the chance to see the questions ahead of the broadcast.

It will be presented by Shaun Ley, well-known as the presenter of World at One and The World This Weekend.

Tickets, which are free and are on a first-come-first-served basis, are available from the church.
