A Roydon couple are bereft at the theft of a treasured heirloom garden pot which has been in the family for 90 years.

John and Elizabeth Taylor, of Manor Road, Roydon, and both parish councillors, have appealed for anyone who may have seen the ornament, known to their family as ‘grandad’s pot’, to come forward.

Mrs Taylor said: “On Tuesday night, June 28, or the early hours of June 29, someone decided to walk up our long private drive and steal our ‘grandad’s pot’. What audacity that person had, and certainly no conscience.”

She said the item had sentimental value as a memento of many treasured family memories. She urged anyone who may seen it to come forward.

At the time the pot was planted up in red, white and blue flowers. If you have any information, call police on 101.
