Are you ready to be shaken or stirred?
Now is the time to put yourself forward for the chance to be this year's Diss Carnival Queen –and ride in an Aston Martin DB7 as Diss' own Bond girl.
The competition to be crowned this year's Queen and attendant is officially launched today and is open to anyone aged 16 or over.
The winner of this year's crown will ride through the town in the prestigious sportscar, similar to one used by film hero James Bond, with Diss businessman Pete Gillings offering his services as chauffeur.
Mr Gillings, who has had the 12 year-old car for two years, said: "They are a bit like a Jag and they are a wonderful car to drive,"
The winning pair will get a bird's eye view of the car because they will be sitting on the back canopy because the back seat is quite low, said Mr Gillings.
The competition will offers several prizes, including the opportunity to have a tailor-made dress exquisitely crafted by Tracey Soar at Mystique, and the chance to be crowned at this year's Proms in the Park on Saturday, June 20, the day before leading the grand parade of floats through the town.
Last year's Carnival Queen was Charlotte Cox, and as well as the beautiful gown, she also won a hair-do, manicure, a weekend's car hire and 100 cash.
Diss Carnival organiser Doreen Collins said: "We just wanted something different. It looks a good car and we all enjoyed the Carnival so much last year, this year is going to be bigger and better."
For your chance to be this year's Carnival Queen, send details of your name, address, date of birth, email address and no more than 50 words on why you want to be the 2009 Diss Carnival Queen, together with a recent picture of yourself to: editorial@dissexpress.co.uk with a subject line of 'Carnival Queen'.
