A Diss man was left scratching his head when a strange bird landed in his garden.
Mark Reeve called on the help of Diss Express website viewers to identify the bird he described as about eight inches long and proportionate to a wagtail.
Mr Reeve spotted the bird in his garden in Williamson Close and said: “I think it is a lovely looking bird and I love its speckled white bits. I’ve never seen anything like it before.”.
A picture of the bird and a request for information was placed on the www.dissexpress.co.uk website and within hours several people had responded.
The bird was identified as a Diamond Dove, a popular aviary bird, originally from Australia.
David Tomlinson, of Bardwell, said: “The bird certainly didn’t fly here from Oz, so must have escaped from a local aviary.”
Stuart Innes also identified the bird, while another reader wrote to say she believed there were several Diamond Doves living wild in Lancashire.
