A traditional village fete on the green at Old Buckenham on Saturday helped raise funds to maintain the character of its setting.
The event was run by The Green Rights Proprietors, who collectively own the 40 acres of village green and are responsible for its upkeep.

Secretary, treasurer and one of the owners Rosemary West, who organised the fete with Mike Read, said the funds raised would go towards general maintenance of the green and the cost of a recent project to restore the pond.

The fete was opened at midday by one of the village's oldest residents, Peter Bloom, who used to run the village shop.

Local charities and organisations ran their own fund-raising stalls and there were traditional games such as Bowling for the Pig and a Wine Wheel, as well as refreshments and teas in the Church Rooms and a funfair.

The event finished with live music in the evening.

Mrs West said the organisers had been lucky with the weather and the fete was a "lovely way of bringing together everyone in the village".
