Stradbroke is celebrating after winning the 32nd annual Intervillage Games.
Teams from eight villages - Stradbroke, Mendham & Withersdale, Badingham, Starston, Weybread, Laxfield, Metfield and Dennington took part in the event at Metfield on Sunday, in the baking sunshine on St John’s Meadow.

Following a week of pre-events including clay pigeon shooting, carpet bowls and rounders, which had already placed the Stradbroke All-Stars in pole position, competitiors limbered up for an afternoon of welly throwing, tug ’o’ war, egg and spoon racing and plenty more.

Speaking at the games, Geoff Elliott, who helps organise the event, said: “There are 26 different sports and the competitors have to choose 20 of them to take part in. The weather is fantastic. It is going to be fun.”
