Crowds gathered to welcome Dame Kelly Holmes to Diss on Friday, as she launched the book she has co-written with local councillor Glyn Walden.
Olympic athlete Dame Kelly and Mr Walden were signing copies of their children’s book Katy The Shooting Star at Diss Publishing and Book Shop, along with Diss Express Mere Quacks creator, Mike Webb, who provided the illustrations.

Dame Kelly said, before the signing: “I’m looking forward to meeting some people and it seems a lovely town. It’s very pretty and it’s nice to be here.”

She spent the morning at Diss Corn Hall helping out with sports activities with primary school children before walking down Mere Street to Diss Park, the setting of the book.

Members of the public took the opportunity to take photos and speak to their sporting hero.

Mr Walden, a town and district councillor for Diss, said the book launch was a proud day.
