An actor and scriptwriter from north Suffolk, is awaiting the go-ahead for his script to be made into a film.
Stewart Bevan, from Rishangles, became intrigued by the tale of the 18th Century mutiny aboard The Bounty, but instead of reiterating the tale made famous in the films Mutiny On The Bounty and The Bounty, his version was inspired by an article about the last mutineer stranded on an uncharted island in the South Pacific Ocean.

"What a fantastic image – one man just surrounded by women and children.

"He was the last mutineer and he is the leading narrator in my version."

Mr Bevan began working on the script about ten years ago, but the process of turning the script into a film must pass through various stages.

After a few production setbacks, the screenplay, due to be called Mutiny, is in the final stages of becoming a film.

"I don't think you can get any nearer. The next step is looking at dates, finalising a director, a cast and location."

The screenplay has the support of Jim Reeve, who produced Foyle's War, and possible locations for the film include Costa Rica.

"Every generation has its own version of the story," he said. "

But none of the films have ever gone down the route of what happened after the mutiny.

"It was an amazing journey."
