Mere attack results in two arrests

Two men have been arrested and charged following an attack on a 53 year-old man near Diss Mere.
The attack happened between 7.15 and 7.30pm last Thursday and the victim, who was with his wife and son at the time of the incident, was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University hospital.

Keith Ridgewell, 23, of Bullock Fair, Harleston, and Terry Carr, 23, White Gates, Norwich, have been arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Mr Carr has been bailed and will appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on September 10 with Mr Ridgewell, who has been remanded in custody.

Diss Inspector Ed Brown said that Mr Ridgewell has also been charged with assaulting a police constable.

Insp Brown said patrols have been increased around the Mere and this was an isolated incident.
