A Diss businessman will travel to the USA next week to take part in the Chicago Marathon.
Tom Bobbins, of Dickleburgh, who has a firm at Diss Business Centre, is hoping to raise £1,250 in sponsorship for the British Heart Foundation.

"I did the London Marathon earlier in the year and raised £1,250 for children with Leukaemia," he said.

"I have chosen to support the British Heart Foundation, because I looked into it and found that about one in four people will suffer heart problems in their lifetime – so it's a really good cause."

Mr Bobbins has been training at Fit Club in Diss, where he has also received advice on stamina and nutrition and sponsorship for the event.

"One of the nice sides of marathon running is you get to eat quite a lot as part of the training," he said. "I am really looking forward to the trip. I have heard the atmosphere in America is brilliant for marathons."

Mr Bobbins will be collecting donations for the British Heart Foundation today from 8.30am to 4pm in Mere's Mouth.

Donations can also be made online at www.justgiving.com/thomasbobbins
