A Winfarthing student is planning on becoming a funeral director after winning an award.
Katie Major, 18, has been named West Suffolk College's Applied and Social Sciences student of the year.

Miss Major originally sought a career with the NHS but this changed after a work placement at the Rosedale Funeral Home in Diss.

"The reason I started the course was because I always wanted to help people," she said.

"This is a way of supporting families by giving their loved one that final bit of care."

Miss Major has also completed a work placement at the West Sussex Hospital's mortuary, and will continue to work part-time at Rosedale while she studies for her funeral professional exams.
