An Occold family went the extra mile to raise money for cancer research.
Steve Dunnett, his wife Kate and sons Martyn and Richard, cycled from Lands End to John o’Groats last week with a diversion of an extra mile to the most northerly point on the British mainland, Dunnet Head.

They completed the 969-mile relay well ahead of schedule.

Steve Dunnett said: ‘We were aiming for something under 100 hours and in fact is was just over 68 hours.

“There was not much celebration at the end as, after little more than five hours sleep during the ride, a nice warm sleeping bag was a more attractive option.”

The Dunnetts decided to take up the challenge following Mr Dunnett’s diagnosis with cancer in September 2007. The family are close to raising £2,000 for two cancer charities.

Anyone wishing to donate should contact the Dunnetts on 01379 678708 or see Martyn Dunnett at Bavins Motorcycles, Victoria Road, Diss.
