A deal has been struck with South Norfolk Council about proposed parking charges in Diss.
All of the town's car parks will be graded as short stay and a new pricing structure put in place.

South Norfolk Council leader John Fuller and head of finance Andy Radford met with Diss Town Council on Wednesday to make a deal both parties could agree on.

It would mean all car parks would be free for the first hour, £1 for 1-2 hours, £1.50 for 2-3 hours, £2 for 3-4 hours and £3 for 4 hours and over.

Diss mayor Simon Olander said: "I think it was the best we could have got at that point in time

"The biggest concession is losing the distinction between long and short stay car parks.

"We did want to try to get Saturday afternoons free and the clerk will put into the writing that proposal."

It would mean long stay car parks in Park Road, and Shelfanger Road East and West, where parking would have been £3 for 1-6 hours under original proposals, would now be short stay.

The proposals will go before the full South Norfolk Council on Monday for approval.
