Spring has almost sprung and the Diss Business Forum and friends have been busy ensuring that there is something for everyone on the calendar.
On May 15, Diss will be Going Green at the Park Hotel, 10.30am-4.30pm.

In keeping with the spirit of this event, the hotel, already a supporter of 'slow food', in that 90 per cent of its produce is normally locally sourced, will be providing a spe
cial 'green' menu to tickle the tastebuds.

And by green, don't think pulses and brown rice! See what happens when home-grown food and drink is turned over to the capable hands of an extraordinary chef.

When you aren't feeding the body, satisfy the soul, with a plethora of exhibits, freebies and special speakers to give you some life-changing tips… and provide a bit of fun.

Nicola Duncan of Enjo, will show you how to clean your offices and your homes with just plain old water.

Have you ever thought that IT could be green and save you money and time?

Jason Alexander of Jalex Collective IT will show you how it's done.

Energy savings, along with developments in the heating industry and national carbon release initiatives are the speciality of DBF member Alistair Robertson, who also has a surprise up his sleeve that could turn your existing boiler at home or at work into an energy-saving monster.

The Broads & Rivers LEADER+ Community Chest and Cittaslow-funded event will be opened by Cynthia Schears, who will tell businesses what Cittaslow can mean to traders.

Joining her will be South Norfolk councillor Joe Mooney, who has spearheaded the movement to rid Diss of plastic bags. More info can be found on the DBF site www.dbf.org.uk

The Diss Carnival is on June 21-22 so keep an eagle eye out for the DBF float being created (at least in our fertile imaginations!) even as I write.

The Book Fair and the April 13 Conversation with Charles and Elisabeth Handy at Diss Publishing, round off the calendar.

Diss is powering forward and becoming a force to be reckoned with – be part of it!

  • Jenna Cox, of design, web design, marketing and PR consultancy Articulate HLC, is a member of the DBF committee.
