Memory Lane pictures continue to do the rounds months after they first appeared in the Diss Express.
We regularly receive feedback long after a request for information has been made.

That is certainly the case with this week's picture.

All we knew when it first appeared last October was that it was of North Lopham Primary School at a district sports day at Diss in 1948/49.

Since then, local historian Dennis Cross, who supplied the picture, has received lots of calls from former pupils, relatives and local residents who have been able to name some of the children in the picture.

So successful has that infrastructure of contacts been that we are now able to name the full line-up.

Back row: Brenda Nolleth, Pat Burt, Rita Crowe, Joan Bryant, Ann Worby, Gladys Baker, Hillary Hodgson, Doris Goddard, George Potter, John Bush, Walter Holden, Derek Baker, Bartle Flatman, Geoffrey Pawsey, Roy Sturman.

Front row: Thelma Clarke, Daisy Clark, Anne Nolleth, Alice Rampley, Oriel Crow, Alice Hazeman, Pat Bell-Tye, Sheila Berry, John Hogg, Michael Briggs, Claude Ruddock, Hugh Lefroy, Eric Davey, Colin Reeve, John Gibbins.

  • Are you in the line-up? What can you remember about the sports days?

  • Write and tell us. School Sports Memories, Diss Express, Norfolk & Suffolk House, Mere Street, Diss, Norfolk, IP22 4AE or email editorial@dissexpress.co.uk
