This week's second mystery picture was sent in by Brenda Wadsworth, of Worcester, and might be linked to the former brush factory in Diss.
Mrs Wadsworth came across the photograph in a box of old family pictures and is asking if Diss Express readers can tell her more about what the event was.

Mrs Wadsworth said: "We know that in the front row, second from the left, is my husband's grandfather, James Bean, who lived in Mount Street, Diss, and worked at the brush factory.

"His son George is, we think, on the other side, third from the right.

"He also worked at the factory until his marriage and moved to Birmingham in about 1937, so we think the photograph is before that.

"My own father and grandfather (William and Ben Barber) also worked at the factory but they're not in the picture so it probably wasn't a works outing, unless they were away doing their weekend job, driving the ambulance."

  • Can you help? Do you remember the Beans or Barbers at the brush factory? Have you any idea when or where the picture was taken and for what occasion?
