Former Eye Youth Club leader Joyce Cooper has managed to add one more name to the list of players in last week's Diss Express, in response to her original request for information.
She said the unnamed manager was Simon Chapman but was unable to give a name for the goalkeeper.

Mrs Cooper, who lives in Horham, said: "Youth club members had complained on several occasions during the time I was one of the leaders, along with Ruby Moore John Sparrow and David Rose, that they had no opportunities for competitive sport with other youth clubs.

"I approached my friend, Simon Chapman, of Athelington, who had been an apprentice with Ipswich Town in the mid-1960s for help.

"He arranged a match, and a football strip, against a team called Californian Rangers of Ipswich. This team was managed by another friend, Steve Wyncol (who is now pastor of Waldringfield Baptist Church).

Mrs Cooper cannot remember the score but said she was keen to hear what the boys were up to nowadays.

House mysteries get answers

Readers have responded with suggestions for the identity of mystery houses featured in Memory Lane.

Claire Ashworth, of Ashworth & Co specialist property services, said the first one looked like Brook House, Wortham.

"It can be found behind the school on the little lane on the right, next door to Brook Cottage, which can be seen endways on the road (which I used to live in)," she said.

"At that time in 1978, a lady called Jill Armstrong lived there with her father."

She thought the other house looked similar to Scole Hall, which has now been demolished.

Ian Rodwell, of Tharston, said he believed the Robert Coppin(g) alias Rodwell, mentioned in the piece about the Wortham house, is his great great grandfather and he offered to pass on details to Marcia Bell, who had made the original request for information.

Website lists crashes

Paul Stone wrote from Hingham with more details about the F-100 aeroplane crash.

He said it happened at Sheperds Grove and the plane came down on an American married quarters house. You can see where one is missing, he said.

"Another F-100 came down at Tivetshall in 1961," added Mr Stone.

"He had just taken off from Lakenheath en-route to Holland.

"Around the Diss area he suffered a major hydraulics failure and bailed out over Stuston Common. The aircraft flew on for a few miles and came down near the ruined church."

Mr Stone said a website called Get out and Walk lists all bail outs from the 1950, including causes, locations and the fate of pilots and crews.
