Postman Bob Ward, of Diss, is hoping this weekend's carnival can be as popular with the children this year as it was in the past.
He brought in a photo of the Roydon Primary School carnival float, for which they won first prize for their Worzel Gummidge-themed effort sometime in the early 1980s.

They borrowed the lorry from Ted Seaman, who ran a haulage firm in Oakley, and the photo was taken in Diss Park.

Mr Ward, a former member of the Friends of Roydon School, said: "I am intrigued about what you can have on floats in carnivals these days because of health and safety.

"I'm sure we wouldn't be allowed to do today what we did then."

He said he was pleased the carnival was back in town: "This kind of thing should be going on in a town this size.

"It is nice to see the facilities that we have, like the bandstand, being used."

Len Green also sent in pictures with a Roydon flavour.

It is another entry from the primary school and shows Ken Dodd's Diddymen during a carnival in the 1970s.

Mr Green's daughter, Lynne was one of the Diddymen.

The other picture sent in by Mr Green shows Sir Alf's Bluebell Girls, members of Diss Young Wives club, dressed up to celebrate the year that Sir Alfred Ramsey's England team won the World Cup in 1966.

The members include his wife Joan.
