The funeral service was held at St Peter and St Paul's Church for Ivy Allum, of Oak Crescent, Eye, who died at the Old Rectory Nursing Home, Barham, on May 22, aged 89.
Wife of the late Harold Allum, she leaves three sons and one daughter, Ronnie, Gordon, Derick and Brenda.

Born in Ludgate Causeway, Eye, in 1918, Mrs Allum was adopted by Mrs Jessup after her mother died in childbirth.

She spent most of her early years helping to look after her adopted brothers and sisters. After her marriage and the birth of her four children, Mrs Allum devoted her life to caring for her family and later her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

When Canon Donald Rea was vicar of Eye, she was employed by him to clean the parish church.

Rev Andrew Mitcham, who officiated, described Mrs Allum as a kind, caring and generous lady who was a familiar figure in the community.

A retiring collection was made in aid of the Eye Church Development Appeal and the St Elizabeth Hospice. Donations for the Hospice can be sent to Susan Whymark Funeral Service, The Old Stables, Chestnut Farm, Langton Green, Eye, IP23 7HL.
