A WEEKEND of rural pursuits is on offer on April 16 and 17 when the annual East Anglian Game and Country Fair makes a return to the Norfolk Showground.
The two-day event, running from 8am to 6pm on both days, includes everything from exciting arena displays to working dogs, shooting and fishing have-a-go activities, displays by a horse behaviourist, fashion and beauty workshops and over 250 shopping stands of products associated with country life.
The Diss Express has teamed up with the show’s organisers to offer readers the chance to win ten family tickets to the show, each worth £27 and vaild for two adults and three children.
To be in with a chance of winning one of these prizes, simply answer the easy question: Where will the East Anglian Game and Country Fair be held? Now write your answer on a postcard with your name, address, and contact telephone number, and post it to East Anglian Game and Country Fair Competition, Diss Express, Norfolk & Suffolk House, Mere Street, Diss, Norfolk IP22 4AE, to arrive no later than Monday, April 4. The usual Diss Express competition rules apply and the editor’s decision will be final.
Amongst activities to try at the show will be taster sessions by the Savage Skills freestyle mountain bike stunt team who will perform their Ultimate Air Show display and run an experience area where visitors can ‘have a go’ on bikes, while Hunstanton Watersports will be running Powerkiting tasters and demonstrating the skills needed to progress to kite landboarding or kitesurfing. The MBS Mountain Boarding team will also perform spins and flip tricks over a Land Rover.
Norfolk Poultry Club will be attending the show for the first time with their exhibition of purebred poultry, waterfowl and eggs, and other attractions will include dock dogs leaping into a large pool of water, sheep dog and duck displays, dog and ferret shows, West Norfolk Hunt hound parade, the hilarious ‘Sheep Show’, fishing demonstrations and a forestry arena.
Visitors can try their hand at clay shooting or enter a 40-bird re-entry shooting competition, try fly fishing, ferret racing or archery, take a helicopter flight over the showground, try the air rifle range, hold an owl or take a ride in a Landrover on the off-road 4x4 course, plus there’s a free Treasure Trail around the show.
There is also plenty of children’s entertainment including walking on water balls, an animal area, slides, donkey rides and a carousel, plus craft and food halls with demonstrations in the cookery theatre.
Dogs on leads are welcome and there is plenty for them to do from gun dog scurry competitions, dog agility and jumping competitions, a Pet Dog Show and a Terrier and Lurcher Show.
