Pink tractors set to ride again
A convoy of pink tractors will journey across south Norfolk for the fourth year raising vital funds for research into breast cancer.
Residents in Harleston and the surrounding villages, will be familiar with the summer sight of scores of pink tractors and their women drivers, trundling through the fields and lanes of south Norfolk on the Ladies' Tractor Road Run.
Annie Chapman, of the Suffolk and Norfolk branch of the David Brown Tractor Club, is again organising the event, which has already raised more than 60,000 for Cancer Research UK's breast cancer research and awareness programmes.
This year's event takes place on Sunday and will start and finish at Airfield Farm, Topcroft. It starts at 11.30am and goes via Starston, Harleston, Gawdy Hall (for lunch), Denton and Alburgh.
More than 100 women have entered this year so it promises to be a fantastic day. Entry to the event is now closed but visitors are welcome to go to Gawdy Hall at about 1-1.30pm.
Mrs Chapman took up the popular women-only event after her partner John came up with the idea in 2003.
The event has got bigger every year and Annie is thrilled with the enthusiasm and the support the event receives from the local community.
Mrs Chapman said: "This event amazes me more every year. It's driven by the remarkable determination, generosity and courage of a lot of special people. Each year I say it, and each year I mean it: 'it's about more than money'."
