Basil's brush with panto

Former Coronation Street and Bad Girls star Deborah Stephenson is starring in this year's Ipswich Regent pantomime.

Following the record-breaking success of last year's production of Cinderella, Aladdin is at the theatre until January 4.

Alongside Ms Stephenson will be television's legendary fox Basil Brush – star of CBBC's The Basil Brush Show and Basil's Swap Shop.

Celebrating his 40th year in showbiz, Basil will be entertaining audiences with his unique comedy and trademark "Boom Boom!" catchphrase, while causing mayhem in his role as The Emperor.

The Harper Brothers provide plenty of laughs as The Chinese Policemen alongside Malcolm Lord as the fabulous Widow Twankey – arguably the nation's favourite pantomime dame.

Everyone's favourite pantomime characters are at the Regent this year, including the evil Abanazar (Michael Brydon), a beautiful princess (Caddy Hopper), the mystical Genie (Gavin Storey) and a full supporting cast of singers and dancers with the children from the Suffolk Academy of Dance and Performing Arts.

With sparkling sets, glorious costumes, spellbinding special effects, dancing, singing and plenty of audience participation, this is a show guaranteed to enthrall the whole family.

Tickets cost 22, 19.50, 18, 16 and 12.00. For more information, or to book tickets, call 01473 433100.
