With reference the article in the Diss Express on June 6, Wind Farms Open Up For Scrutiny.
It is of paramount importance to put windfarms into their proper perspective in order the concerned communities of Norfolk can make an informed judgement on whether to support or oppose their proliferation across our beautiful countryside.

Firstly
it must be acknowledged that the description by the wind energy spokesman: "wind farms are industrial station sites", is most apt.
Secondly the wind turbine 400ft plus high is huge.

However, some find them acceptable, I personally see them as magnificent examples of man's puny attempts to harness the awesome powers of nature.

Thirdly, however many turbines are installed from Lands End to John O'Groats they will have no impact upon global climate change.

Fourthly, there is a general consensus of opinion that the modern large wind turbine should not be installed closer than 1,500m – many recommend 2,000m, to an occupied dwelling.

France has simply banned any installation in rural/wild areas.
Fifthly, because of winds stochastic intermittency, its capability to supply x-thousand homes is just one of these many pieces of misinformation that litters the wind farm landscape.

Therefore, it is recommended the good people of Norfolk judge their wind farms on their quality of life impact and contribution to the Government's declared carbon reduction targets.

Many thanks to kind people
I am writing on behalf of the Diss and District Committee of Save the Children to express our thanks to all those who contributed towards or helped in any way during the recent collection week in Diss and Attleborough and surrounding villages.

We raised £1,200 at stores, house-to-house and a coffee morning for which we are very grateful.

Our fundraising this time was earmarked for the Burma appeal.
It is important to note Save the Children had 500 trained workers in place in Burma which proved a valuable resource in allowing aid to be distributed quickly.

  • I would like to say a big thank you to all of my clients at The Olive Tree and

  • M.G Fitness Studio, in Shelfanger, for supporting me running this year's London Marathon.

With their kind generosity I raised £1,400 for the Norwich and District Young Carers.

This money was greatly received and will help take the Young Carers on a very special outing this summer – a much deserved break for the young unsung heroes.

I had much delight in presenting the cheque to their club and was very moved by the gift of a wonderful picture made by themselves expressing their thanks.

It certainly made the long 26 miles well worth the pain!
