I so wanted to write about the Mere.
Lovely, glistening, it's central to here,

This bright town called Diss, curling round its shores,

Reminiscent of a dragon's fierce jaws.

Here's such calm, such peace to sit by the Mere,

Watch bright children feeding the ducks, and peer
At the centre piece, the fountain so clear.

All seem to me a moment so, so dear.

Unusual for a town to have a lake;

It's really the blue icing on the cake.

Something vivid to remember the town,

A lovely lady dressed in a bright gown.

A pity one cannot swim in the lake,

Or rowing boats or swift canoes to take.

But one tells me the Mere is a menace,

A dark threat in life our peaceful safe place.

John Trythall, The Causeway, Occold

  • Ho me, ho my, you must laugh or else you would cry!

  • A PM who says don't throw away food. Who can afford to? Not us we cry!

Now a commission who don't go out of the M25!

Propose a complete irony of all that has been gone before?

Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth to be one in Norfolk!

They're not far on the map, so why should they not be one the commission would say?

Thankfully Nelson and Constable are not here to see it, what horror could be!

What next? Diss and Eye to be one to Suffolk?

But all places in Norfolk and Suffolk are unique and different it adds an charm and grace, unlike whats within the M25!
