I find the decision by South Norfolk Council to start charging for parking our car in Harleston completely outrageous.
Since Labour came to power, the cost of living has already more than doubled, the cost of fuel has gone through the roof, and to add insult to injury, we have some dictatorial councillors, who think they can override the wishes of the people.
We a
lready pay far too much for road tax and council tax, and can assure the council that this will eventually backfire on them, when the shops and businesses start to lose trade.
If I was in business now, and lost money through this ill-conceived decision, I would invoice the council for my losses.
A.R. Frost, Rectory Road, TopcroftWalk and you won't need to find parkingI really can't understand the letters complaining about car parking charges last week.
One lady lives in Frenze Road, just a short walk from the centre of Diss.
What does she want, free parking outside every shop she visits?
I presume that she's not disabled, because she could get free parking anyway.
De Lucy Close is a bit further away, but if you are just wandering around town, why not wander into Diss as well.
If you've got a big shop then use the supermarkets' car parks.
The letters were right next to the Cittaslow column.
The column never seems very clear about what Cittaslow actually is, but I presume it is about things like leaving your car at home and walking instead of clogging up a small town with cars.
John Wilson, School House, BurstonThank youThe Baker family thank all those who supported the A D Baker Memorial Day at Willow Dene.
A total of £522 was raised, £322 of which will go to the East Anglian Air Ambulance and £200 to Botesdale Health Centre.
Peter Woods won the pool tournament and Darren White was the runner-up.
Mrs Baker, Magpie Green, WorthamHelp us tell more peopleI fully agree that Moviezone film evenings can never gain enough publicity (
Firm foundations needed for Corn Hall plans).
But whatever one does, someone always slips through the net.
One observation is that on the rare occasions we are permitted to screen an appropriate film, prior to DVD release, numbers correspondingly increase with the same level of publicity.
In other words people know we are here. Normally on the first Saturday of the month.
People demand high quality sound reproduction. The refurbishment of the Corn Hall will address this problem.
Upgraded cinema equipment will facilitate the hire of new film titles, thereby increasing foot fall and increasing revenue for the hall's running costs.
We are in need of someone to help with publicity. Ring 01379 676322 if you can help.
