Ihave read with interest some of the scaremongering in recent letters pages regarding Grasmere.
I would like to put residents’ minds at rest about some of the issues raised.

There are no plans for the closure of Denmark Street during the development of the new building.

Far from costing local businesses thousands of pounds, the developm
ent will bring investment during the build phase and ongoing custom from new residents post development.

The South Norfolk Conservative Association has looked at other ways of developing the site which have not proved to be commercially viable.

Should the Grasmere Club feel there is a way to commercially develop the site for their own and others’ leisure interests, then under the terms of their lease they have a ‘right to buy’.

Today’s design standards and the quality of the assessing members and officers will not allow a poorly designed building to be approved.

More A-boards would be better

Let’s have more A-boards on Diss pavements (Backlash to A-board plan, Diss Express, May 22).

Then us old shufflers can walk out in the road, where the asphalt is more even than some of the paving slabs of the present footways.

I keep stubbing my toes.

Horry Self,

Tivetshall St Mary

Thank you for condolences

I would like to thank the many friends and neighbours who have sent messages following the recent loss of my dear wife Dawn.

It is at times like this that the kindness and thoughtfulness of people is such a comfort.

The sheer volume of messages was too much to permit a speedy acknowledgement so I would like to pass on my appreciation now.

David Carrell,

Willow Corner, Wortham

Comfortable

I would like to thank the Diss Express for my competition prize of a Relaxateeze Avanti recliner chair I collected from Wallace King. It is avery comfortable chair!

Heather Rumsby,

Pixey Green, Stradbroke
