Last week South Norfolk Council advertised for a new chief executive at a salary "in excess of £100,000".
This is surprising since under the Boundary Committee's proposals the council may cease to exist by April 2010.

The Liberal Democrat Group proposed the appointment of an acting chief executive, either internally or externally, and only recruiting
a permanent replacement in February 2009 if the Local Government Review is abandoned by government.

Many good candidates will be deterred from applying now, given the uncertainty about the future of the council.

Also, we are currently in mid-summer when many potential applicants will be away.

Sadly the Tory Group insisted that the Titanic must have an expensive new engine immediately.

Dr Murray Gray,
Leader, Liberal Democrats,
South Norfolk Council

  • Praise him

What a wonderful example Josh Dye (Work experience slot shows it's not Sundays only, Diss Express, July 25) has given.

The whole point of any religion is a design for living. Commitment, respect, caring, listening to and thinking of others and trying to help.

Religion is not just for Sundays or Holy Days it is for life.
Very hard work, and perfection is never achieved.

  • Thank you

I would like to thank the lovely person who picked up my four stamped addressed envelopes and posted them.

I was having a really bad day.

I called the companies who they were addressed to and they said they had received them, so thanks again.

There are some nice people out there.

S. Richards
Stradbroke
