Redwings Horse Sanctuary's summer open weekend runs tomorrow and Sunday and will give visitors the chance to meet some of the charity's rescued horses, ponies, donkeys and mules.
Redwings' 350-acre headquarters at Hapton is home to its Horse Hospital, Parklands Re-homing Centre and administration offices, as well as more than 300 animals.

On both days, the sanctuary will be open from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free.

The Redwings charity has three visitor centres in the UK but only opens its headquarters to the public for two weekends a year.

In addition to the chance to get up close to the animals, there will be tours of the Horse Hospital with Redwings' senior veterinary surgeon, riding demonstrations from the resident re-homing team, horse handling demonstrations with a handling expert, and talks and interactive displays.

Refreshments will also be available with light meals and home-made cakes on offer along with Fair Trade teas and coffees.

For more information call 0870 040 0033.
