Great Ellingham is bracing itself for an invasion of teddy bears when it holds its 6th Teddy Bear Festival from July 4 to 19.
The two-week event, which is run in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, includes everything from a teddy bear workshop and trail, to an art exhibition and car rally.
It also includes a teddy bear auction, which will be held tomorrow in the
village hall.
The trail of teddies on display around the village will take place throughout the fortnight starting July 4. Trail maps will cost £1 from The Crown, the Post Office and other locations in the village. There will also be an art exhibition, with a preview evening in St James Church on July 9, which will include music from singer Bernadine Pritchett and the Norfolk Premiere of The Village Singers, plus a jumble sale, garage sales, fashion show, family disco, ladies night, grand raffle and thanksgiving service.
Organisers of tomorrow’s auction are inviting people to enter goods for sale where they get half the proceeds achieved by their items. Lots accepted include furniture, antique and modern, bric-a-brac, household and garden items, tools, bicycles, lawn mowers, while promises are also being auctioned.
The auctioneer is George Reeve of Methwold Auction Mart and entries must be in by today at the village hall. Home collection may also be available - call George Reeve or Ann Milner, 01953 457808.
