It will be hats on at Gissing Country Fayre this year, with A Day At The Races, theme prompting an Ascot-style hat competition.
The fair, which takes place Sunday, features several racing games as well as plant stalls and the more unusual game of china smashing. There will be a barbecue and cream teas and the Gissing Crown pub will be open all day.

The best hat will win a prize, and according to organiser Joe Cromley: "We are hoping for some pretty outlandish stuff. We are a small village and it will just be a good old fashioned day in the county."

There will also be a display of vintage tractors and a garden club display and art exhibition in the Gissing church.

The fair, which attracted about 300 visitors last year, will be held from 2-5pm and will be located between the children's centre and the pub.

Programmes will be available for £1 and all profits raised on the day will go to the Heart of Gissing – an organisation promoting the centre of the village and aiming to develop the community.

For more information call Joe Cromley, 01379 677817.
