In a break from their traditional festive shows, the Mere Players take to the stage next week for their musical extravaganza In The Mood For Christmas.
The local theatre group, which has performed January pantomimes for the last two years, has decided to help ease people into the festive spirit with an uplifting show featuring everything from carols to glam rock.

Chairman Robert Burton said the s
how, which opens on Wednesday and runs until next Saturday, was a Christmas take on the group's other successful In The Mood productions.

"In The Mood For Christmas features a mixture of songs to cater for all tastes," he said.

"Michael Dann is our musical director, so the music is going to be to a very high standard and we pride ourselves on our level of lighting and effects."

Mr Burton added the production was in the same vein as the popular Thursford Christmas Spectacular show, although on a smaller scale.
"We have done this to ring the changes," he said.

"We normally hold our pantomimes in January but because this is to get people in the mood for Christmas, we have brought it forward a bit."

The Mere Players production In The Mood For Christmas is at Diss Corn Hall from Wednesday until next Saturday, 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

Tickets cost £7 and £8 and are available by calling 01508 531625 or e mailing boxoffice@mereplayers.co.uk

They can also be bought at A. Stodel Optometrists, Market Place, Diss,
01379 642598.
