Top gardening expert and broadcaster Roy Lancaster will be giving a talk at Blacksmith's Cottage Nursery, near Dickleburgh, on September 5, during a prestigious Royal Horticultural Society event in support of the nursery's annual Specialist Plant Fair.
The plant fair will play host to the RHS's regional event in East Anglia this year and Mr Lancaster will be joined by Bob Flowerdew and representatives from 25 award-winning specialist plant nurseries from the region, as well as arts and crafts and l
ocal produce stalls.
A team from the
RHS gardens at Hyde Hall in Essex will also be on hand to offer visitors advice.
The two speakers will be giving their talks to raise funds for charity – Roy Lancaster's talk will be in aid of the RHS, while locally-based organic gardening expert Bob Flowerdew's will be in aid of East Anglia's Children's Hospices.
There will be other free short talks throughout the day as well as guided wildlife tours, demonstrations by well-known local horticulturalists on tips and gardening secrets, wildlife and floral art demonstrations and the chance to bring along a plant sample and have it identified by the experts.
There will also be a talk by Ian Le Gros who is curator of the Hyde Hall Gardens.
Tickets for the plant fair, which runs from 10am to 5pm, will be available on the day at the gate for £1 each.
The
nursery can be found in Langmere Road, Langmere, between Harleston and Dickleburgh.
Tickets for the Roy Lancaster lecture, which will be held in the evening from 5pm to 7pm, must be booked in advance through the RHS by calling 0845 612 1253 and cost £7.50 for RHS members or £9.50 for others.
The price includes entry to the plant fair too.
