Diss-based Sausage King Stephen Plume will be heading to Norwich next Saturday to announce the winner of the Battle of the Bangers competition.
The competition is one of the highlights of the seven-day Norwich and Norfolk Food Festival 2008.

Seven local butchers will be taking part in the banger contest on October 11 and the winner will see the
ir sausage served in some of Norfolk's top eateries.

The competition starts at 9.30am, with voters able to cast their opinions up until 3pm. Admission to this event is free.

The food festival is in its fourth year and celebrates local produce, local talent and healthy eating. It opens on Wednesday and runs until October 14, and will feature food tasting, meals out, demonstrations, recipe swapping and much more.

This year, co-ordinators VisitNorwich are lining up a tempting programme of foodie events as part of the celebrations with more than 130 businesses expected to be involved in the programme.

Other events include the John Lewis Cookery Theatre and RNAA Food Fair at The Forum, the Great Norfolk Sunday Roast, The Moveable Feast (a gastronomic walk-about featuring 18 restaurants across the city), the Jellyvision Schools Challenge, the Young Farmers Model Farm, a Food and Ale Fringe Event showcasing Produced in Norfolk producers, The Big Norfolk Food Debate and the Norwich Tea Trail.

There will also be special menus, dishes and promotions at eating venues throughout Norwich and cookery demonstrations.
