Strike up the band – it is cabaret showtime again for a group of Norfolk performers who are raising funds for charity.
Cabaret Showtime Take 2 will take place at Wortwell Community Centre on Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19, with the curtain going up at 7.30pm on both nights.
It is the second year running the event has been organised by Alison Jordan, of Central Hair hairdressing salon at Pulham Market, her 17-year-old daughter, Natalie Lovick, who is a performing arts student, and friend and semi-professional singer Marie Wilson.
Mrs Jordan said: "We organised our first event last year and donated the proceeds to charity as I had lost my aunt to cancer.
"This year, we will be giving the money raised to Cancer Research UK again, in memory of my aunt, and also to the MS Trust as two of the people who have done so much to help us have a daughter who is an MS sufferer. We're keen to raise as much as we can for these two causes."
Tickets for the evening cost £12.50 each and can be bought individually or as tables. The price includes a buffet meal and there will be a bar. Food and drinks will be served to the tables to give an Old Time Music Hall atmosphere to the evening.
The programme for the evening has been co-produced by Natalie and Marie, who will also perform with other singers and performing arts and musical theatre students.
It will be compered by Martin Smith and will include song and dance numbers, as well as an appearance by a professional magician. Music will range from songs from the musicals, to themes such as music from the James Bond films, modern duets and group numbers and country music.
There will also be an auction of two exciting 'promises' for the charities.
The first is for two people to watch Channel 4's The Morning Line being filmed as it goes out on air from Newmarket Racecourse and then to join the presenters and their guests for breakfast before watching the day's races and having a guided tour of the course facilities and television studio.
The second is for two people to have a tour of the Radio Norfolk and BBC Look East studios and to watch presenter Roy Waller at work as his afternoon show goes out on air.
Tickets can be bought from Central Hair in Pulham Market, from Rich Pickings in Harleston or by calling Alison Jordan, 01508 531188.
