A country and western music night is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary in Diss this month.
The Silver Dollar Club, which has run fortnightly since its creation, will be putting on an anniversary event at the Park Hotel on August 31.

The club, founded by the band Suffolk Punch and local couple Tony and Margaret Arbon, currently has 130 members.

Through its history it has made invaluable contributions to local and national charities, from buying guide dogs to providing Christmas entertainment at Hartismere Hospital.

Mrs Arbon, keen not to spoil any surprises about the big night, hinted at cowboy fancy dress from the hotel staff and club committee, a raffle and the presentation of a large sum to charity.

All this will be to the music of Liverpudlian band West Virginia.

Doors open at 7pm and food will be available. Tickets, cost £5, and are available from John and Teresa Stannard, 01603 433918.
