A day of musical fun is in store for children at a popular annual event.
Classical music is shaking off its stuffy image for a day of instrument building, face painting and quizzes as one of Europe’s most celebrated orchestras opens its doors.

The Britten Sinfonia Family Music Day is on Saturday, October 11, at the King’s Centre, Norwich, and West Road Concert Hall, in Cambridge, the following day.

Youngsters aged five to 12 and their families are invited to take part in a series of exploring workshops to find out about and play along with different sections of the the orchestra.

Javanese gamelan and percussion sessions are also on the menu, with plenty of activities to keep people entertained between the workshops – and the audience will have chance to play with Britten Sinfonia’s Elastic Band in a grand finalé.

Tickets for the workshop are £3 for children and £5 for adults.
