ONE of the UK’s best handball players recently attended a north Suffolk high school to give pupils a coaching session.

Louise Dukes, who has represented England for a number of years and has played for clubs in Denmark and Norway, visited Stradbroke Business and Enterprise College to pass on her wisdom.

She was there to encourage participation in sport by speaking about her experiences and the journey she has been on, and showed youngsters what handball involves: giving them the chance to experience something that they perhaps had not seen before.

Dukes first started playing handball after being selected through Sir Steve Redgrave’s Talent Identification Scheme.

She had previously played hockey for the England U18 team.

Since 2008, she has been a member of the Suffolk Sports Trust and Team Ipswich.
