Eye to get a spring clean
PAINTING, litter-picking and a general tidy-up of a north Suffolk town will be staged this weekend.
Residents of any age are encouraged to join in Eye Volunteer Day, which takes place tomorrow.
Areas that will be tidied or repainted include the mural on Bellands Way, the community centre playing field and Eye’s bus stops
Bernard Harrison, an Eye Town councillor who is helping to organise the event, said: “What we are doing is giving people in Eye the chance to volunteer to do various bits and bobs around the town.
“We will be doing this around the town, and the idea comes from the Love The Place You Live scheme.”
He added: “I don’t think Eye is more untidy than other places - quite the contrary. But, there’s always something you can do, and people have said they want to do something community-spirited like this.”
The event has been advertised at Hartismere School, and it is hoped that both young and old people alike will take part.
Items like paint will be supplied.
Meet at Eye Town Hall at 9.30am.
