A walk around Diss this weekend or one evening next week could bring one lucky person a £100 reward.
How well do you know your town? A series of clues and anagrams in the Diss Carnival programme lead readers on a route along Mere Street, Park Road and Denmark Street.

The official programme is now available from outlets throughout the town and anyone buying a copy ahead of the Carnival Weekend can enter a treasure hunt with 80 clues leading to a £100 prize for one successful detective.

Diss Express editor Steven Penny set the treasure hunt and said: "Many of the clues are cryptic but I'm sure all members of the family will enjoy trying to track them down.

"Some are simple; do you know when the Corn Hall was erected? But I'm reasonably confident some will prove very frustrating; who are the English Brothers with a French accent?"

The programmes are £2 and entitle one adult to admission to the Carnival Fun Day at Diss Town FC, Brewers Green Lane, on Sunday, June 22. Accompanied children can enter the event free.

Included in the 64-page publication is a full list of all the Carnival Weekend activities, from Saturday evening's Proms in the Park concert to the musical finale at the football ground on Sunday afternoon.

Other events covered include a water display by a dog rescue team in the Mere, Hoxon Hundred morris dancing in the Market Place and displays by Diss fire station staff and the Black Belt Academy as well as a dove release, tug of war competition, children's races, fancy dress contest and vintage vehicle and traction engine parades.

Details of the showground and parade route are included, as well as lists of all the organisations involved on the day, whether as part of the 32-entry grand parade or with stalls at the football ground.

Information is also provided on the day's star guest, musical entertainment for the afternoon, details of who will benefit from the profits, features on the history of the Carnival and the Carnival Queen and general features on the town and the area.

Copies of the programme will be on sale at today's Diss market, the farmers' market tomorrow and also at the Tourist Information Centre, town council office, Diss Express, Albrights, Diss Antiques, Crackers and Chaps, Les Amandines and the Cittaslow Centre.

Closing time for treasure hunt entries is noon next Friday and the £100 prize will be presented at the Carnival Fun Day on Sunday, June 22.
