Football: Ipswich Town fan Nick Wells explains why he prefers Dan Harding instead of Sito Castro

I have a confession to make, I do not rate our man of the moment, Sito Castro.
I am even prepared to go further against popular opinion and say that I would prefer for Dan Harding to fill the left-back berth for Town.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against our plucky little Spaniard, rather I am exasperated how Town supporters view his performances with rose-tinted spectacles and Harding's through eyewear you would expect to see on the Blues Brothers' noses.
Admittedly the former England U21 international has not been at the top of his game this season and has made some costly mistakes.
Where I have sympathy for Harding is that when he makes an error, it inevitably ends in a goal.
He makes a poor clearance on the edge of the area at Stoke and Liam Lawrence fires in a goal of the season candidate which wins the match.
If the shot had flown over the bar and Town had gone on to win, the innocent mishap would have been forgotten.
Consequently Harding has become a scapegoat for dropped points and looks like he will take on the title of Ipswich boo boy during Matt Richards' absence from the team.
In contrast, Sito always seems to get an easy ride, especially at Portman Road, where opponents sit back and he is head-to-head with a defensive midfielder rather than a mercurial winger.
Consequently the Spaniard always looks comfortable on the ball, which is his strength.
When he did get caught out by Darren Ambrose against Charlton, a linesman's flag or wayward shooting came to his aid.
Even against Scunthorpe on Saturday, where he was rightly a hero after scoring an outstanding goal, it was his error in failing to cut out a cross which provided the Iron with a lifeline.
I repeat, I do not have anything against Sito and I do see him as a valuable member of our squad.
I am not even that big a fan of Harding and next season I don't see either player filling the left-back void, even if we are still in the Championship as Jim Magilton will surely look to spend some of Marcus' millions on the position.
But if we faced Watford or Stoke in the play-offs I would choose Harding's strength and height to Sito's composure on the ball.
In the meantime I wish Blues supporters would be more fair in their assessment, rather than seeing Sito as the next Mauricio Taricco and Harding as the next Graham Harbey, when in truth, there is little to choose between the pair.
