Featuring three former members, Stone Gods have risen phoenix-like from the ashes of The Darkness when the latter band disintegrated in 2006.
With a much more muscular sound and at the end of their second headlining tour of the UK within six months, they have certainly forged their own identity, stepping out of the shadows of their past.

The atmosphere in the venue is electric as a hug
e roar goes up when the band hit the stage and tear into their opening song.

From the first guitar riff to the last crash of drums the set is an adrenalin-charged triumph, reminding me once again why I love rock music so much.

Richie Edwards is a consummate front man, showing a natural rapport with the audience, his gritty vocals and guitar playing perfectly meshing with the rest of the band.

Matched by Dan Hawkins' powerful guitar and the tight rhythm section of Toby MacFarlaine and (stand-in drummer) Robin Goodridge, you get a real sense they love what they're doing and are totally committed.

There's light and shade in their set, from the bruising Burn The Witch to the sublime ballad Lazy Bones, Stone Gods show they're also terrific songwriters.

With their incendiary live shows and phenomenal debut album Silver Spoons And Broken Bones out in a week, this is a band set to conquer the World.

  • To mark the release of Silver Spoons And Broken Bones, Stone Gods will be playing an acoustic set and signing copies of the album at HMV, in Chapelfield, Norwich, on Monday, July 7, 5pm.
